Saturday evening in the beautiful lobby of the historic Rhode Theater the Kenosha Art Association held their “First Annual Advent Juried Art Show”. What a great success with many wonderful people attending the event that Brigitta put together. There was music playing in the background, lights strung around, Christmas trees, food and drink that made for a very festive occasion. Twenty One artists entered the competition with some exquisite art being seen.
This was also a chance to see the new Pollard Gallery opening, which provided an area for more than twenty local artists to show their ware along with the well known Pollard’s artwork. ExposeKenosha would like to applaud the Pollard Gallery for the new direction which will bring additional opportunities for local artists.
Our congratulations to the winners of the show:
- 1st prize went to Kathleen Laybourn for “Ressurection” that was done in oil
- 2nd prize went to Rebbeca Venn for “Gypsy Girl” that was done in conte
- 3rd prize went to Sue Wolff for “Morning Light” done in watercolor
- Honorable mention to Jessica Meyers for “Beggars Banquet” in mixed media
- The Peoples Choice Award also went to Kathleen Laybourn for “Ressurection.”
The judge mentioned that it was a hard decision, as there were so many quality pieces to choose from.
Thank you to everyone that attended.
