Everett Thomas is an emerging modern folk artist who brings a soulful, emotive voice, simple yet striking arrangements and poetic, relevant songwriting to the modern music scene. He has readily connected with an audience who prefers the satisfaction of depth and inspiration over the quickly-fading pleasures of today’s sugar-coated pop.

The man himself is deeply conflicted yet at complete rest, his lyrics are richly poetic yet accessible and his music, at once haunting and uplifting. These distinct tensions spring from a life which has experienced the pains of brokenness, disappointment and injustice as well as the joys of love, redemption and hope. His self-released debut EP, Fools and Thinkers, reveals this tension and showcases his vulnerability as a writer and performer. Thomas comments on his songwriting, “I don’t feel like we can escape the things that happen to us in our lives. They become a part of shaping and molding us into who we are. What we can do is decide how we let these things mold us. I began to write. I never really sit down to write something that sends a message. But, I know there is so much more than what this commercial, televised, material world has to offer. There is hope. It took me a long time to realize that. Yet I’m still constantly in motion, trying to realize that.
