Why do professional arts administrators hold these things when professional artists can’t attend them?

They of all people should know better.

Artists can’t come to these things becase they are WORKING - out there performing in the schools and libraries and such at the very times they hold these things. They are announce so late that there is not chance to change the gig and arts funding in Wisconsin is so pathetic the working artist cannot pass on a paying gig to attend.

If they want working artists (not wannabees) to show up, hold it on a Monday night.
