Jill Jensen – Jack Grassel Jazz Band
Jill Jensen and Jack Grassel sizzle on stage! The married duo has impressed audiences since 1998. Jill’s expressive voice sparkles alongside Jack’s graceful guitar as they perform jazz-flavored music that speaks in an easily understood and enjoyable dialect. This couple is a sure-fire crowd pleaser offering an exciting blend of originals, standards, Latin, ballads, swing, bebop, and rhythm & blues.
They’ve hold an impressive array of awards garnered from the 2007 Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Award nominations, including Best CD, It’s About the Music, and Best Song, Song for Your Mother. Jill and Jack are in demand as a duo, small ensemble, and for their Big Band where Jack conducts music custom arranged for them by Walt Stuart.
Performing with Jill and Jack are Percussionist Sam Belton and Bassist John Babbitt. Both have impressive backgrounds in teaching and performing. Belton earned a Bachelor of Music degree and a Masters of Education degree. Babbitt, a Wisconsin Conservatory of Music faculty member since 1994, holds a Masters in performance on double bass.
