Dave Sturino & Friends Jazz Band
The Anderson Arts Center will close its 2008 Twilight Jazz Series on Tuesday August 26th with the Dave Sturino & Friends Jazz Band. “Everyone at the Anderson Arts Center is so pleased over the outpouring of attendance and support from the community. Thank you for another great season,” said Flora Doody, Executive Director of Special Events.
Music as his inspiration, Dave Sturino began piano studies at age five and progressed to studying with two teachers every week at age 15. A 1979 Tremper High School graduate, Dave attended Berklee College of Music in Boston MA and continued studies at UW-Parkside under the direction of Professor Tim Bell. Performing various styles of music for over 32 years, Dave shared the stage with many area popular bands such as Columbia Space Shuttle Big Band, The Bones Band, Parkside Reunion Big Band, Pat Odell Jazz Lexicon, John Bunic Big Band, Swing Nouveau, Steve Houghton, and the Glen Miller Orchestra. Currently Dave is a member of the Mike Murphy Trio, Tim Bell – Jack Plovanich Big Band, the Jim Yorgan Jazz Sextet, and continues to study music today.
Joining Dave and his “friends” on stage is a young percussionist, John Sturino (Dave’s son). A high school freshman this year, John has been studying drums for five years, is self-taught on the marimba and vibraphone and has a passion for music much like his father. Participating in the University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin State Honor Bands, John is a member of the UWM Ujay Jazz Ensembles and the Kenosha Beats indoor drum line. John enjoys working with younger percussionists at school and during summer marching band practice and likes many styles of music.

The Anderson Arts Center www.andersonartcenter.com is located at 121 66th Street in Kenosha. The grounds open at 6:00 p.m. and the show runs from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Food and beverages are available for purchase and a 50/50 raffle will be held to benefit the Anderson Arts Center. If you’ve been to these concerts so far, you know how people enjoy creating their own outdoor living room. So bring the tables and chairs, candles and wine, kids and dogs . . . come out and relax and enjoy. For directions or other information, visit the website.
I would like to personally thank Flora Doody and the Anderson Arts Center for honoring me with the opportunity to film this fantastic and fun event for them. It has been a tremendous pleasure taking the pictures, hearing the music and getting to hang out with my Kenosha friends and making new ones. I wish all of you a happy, healthy, warm and safe winter.

Dear Dave Sturino,
My name is Harold Mims and I played keys with the Kal Bergendahl Project for many years while I was in the Chicago area. I have recently moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to continue my music career.
There is a local band by the name of The RV (Raul Valdes) Project that is looking to play festivals and do some traveling. I really enjoyed the festivals and jazz series while I was there and thought it would be good for this talented group to experience that too!
I can send you the band’s bio, song list, and demo if this is something that can be worked out.
Many Thanks!
Harold MIms
