“Unexpected Gifts” . . .

I am sure this phrase has different meanings for us all, but for the Poyners and Rhythm in the Round, it sums up our personal and public lives in the past month. On Nov. 19 Roger had unexpected quadruple bypass surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee. He is on the “Rapid Recovery” track and we thank all who have sent thoughts and support our way during this time of healing.

While Roger was in the hospital Rhythm in the Round also got a new lease on life: A one-year lease on a storefront space in downtown Kenosha. The timing was unexpected but the adventure has been embarked upon nonetheless. The new venture has been dubbed THE DRUM HUT located at: 5607 Seventh Ave., Kenosha. As karma would have it, this means Rhythm in the Round is still on Seventh Avenue! We are in process of renovating the space and plan a February 1, 2009 opening. All artisans–especially those who make indigenous-inspired instruments– are invited to contact Heather to find out how to showcase your wares at The Hut.
