Jill Plaisted began performing as a dancer at a young age, taking tap, jazz, and ballet lessons with Guy Singer and SASS productions. Starting piano lessons at age seven, she wrote lyrics and songs for her mother, Gail, to sing on the television show “Star Search“. At age ten, Jill picked up the viola and started to play in the orchestra. In later years, she auditioned for the band The Sand Carvers, was hired, and played Nemo Music Showcase and Conference with them in 1997, sharing the bill with bands like Aerosmith and Big Wreck . She then taught herself to play guitar and continued writing songs, catching the attention of drummer/ producer Victor Delorenzo of the Violent Femmes. Jill performed on a three song demo with Delorenzo, Noel Crowder and the Danglers, a project that she is very proud of. Also playing locally at open jams, she started to collaborate with other local talents like Ash Can School, Terry Marcinni, and Cy Costobile, and has shared the bill with artists such as Willie Porter, The Guffs, Paul Cebar, Evan Priday Band, Jason Kent and Miss Fun. Jill recently gained some clout in the commercial industry with the help of friends Steve Comeau and Ralph Brunner on a Christian video called “your voice matters.“ In 2008, she was hired to sing on three Steinhaffel’s commercials. Jill feels blessed and very fortunate to be an artist and belong to a supportive music community like Kenosha, Wisconsin. She wants to encourage every parent to give their children the gift of music and art and help win the fight to keep arts alive in schools. “What is a world without beautiful art and music?”

Culinary Creativity At Be Exposed!
April 11th, 2010 — Culinary Arts, BeExposed!, Carolyn's Coffee Connection, Blog
At the next BeExposed! show, we’ll delve into the culinary arts with one of our featured artists, food blogger Dana Boyle. Read on to find out more about her, then join us this Friday to see what she’ll be cooking up!
Dana Boyle is an accomplished home gourmet and the author of Confessions Over the Sink, a blog about eating and cooking real food for real people. There, Dana shares her everyday cooking, eating and food experiences with her audience. Her cooking style is eclectic, but has its roots in her upbringing and adventures with her grandparents’ Southern, Hungarian, Pennsylvania Dutch, and Irish culture, growing up in a very close-knit Italian hometown, and traveling to live and study in places like Washington, D.C., New Orleans, Mexico and Montreal. Dana’s bond with others, more than any other thing, is food and common experiences shared over meals.
Dana has been asked to cook for parties, events and to orchestrate the main dishes for gatherings of friends and colleagues. She offers personal chef services on request for special occasions.
She has been cooking since her great-grandmother put her up on a stool wearing one of her great-grandfather’s shirts as a smock to help make potato salad at three years old. Her grandmothers, mother, aunts, friends, and people she’s connected with in her travels have nurtured her love of food, cooking and sharing love around a table.
Dana is also a local attorney and life coach. She can be found at http://confessionsoverthesink.blogspot.com, or emailed at dana@danalboyle.com.

March 17th, 2010 — Jerome Hunter, BeExposed!, ExposeKenosha

BeExposed!’s next show is on Friday, March 19th and Jerome Hunter will be playing during the PhotoKenosha Group opening reception from 6-7pm.
“The music of Jerome Hunter”.

Jerome grew up in a large family in North Chicago, IL.
His musical influences growing up were his mother, Beatrice and his father, Robert. Beatrice played the piano and sang in the church choir with the great Sam Cook.
Robert was a blues guitarist, introducing Jerome to the blues at a very young age.
Other close influences were his uncle, Brett Garrett and his cousin, Donnie Bates, both guitarists. Robert and Brett both had the privilege of playing with blues greats like Muddy Waters and B.B. King. The Motown sound was a big influence, along with artists such as, Earth, Wind and Fire, Jimi Hendrix, Chicago, The Eagles, The Beatles and Seal.
Over the years, Jerome has played with many bands, the longest period was with the band, “Hot Ice”, which toured many of the southern states for about five years. These experiences have helped make him the musician and songwriter he is today.

March 10th, 2010 — Brian Ford, Jamey Buencamino, BeExposed!, Janine Arecco, ExposeKenosha

BeExposed!’s next show is on Friday, March 19th and will feature:
“Unplugged”.
Unplugged was created with the idea of “putting a new spin on standards”. The group is formed of classically trained musicians: vocalist Janine Arecco, guitarist Jamey Buencamino, and percussionist Brian Ford (playing the African Djembe). They have broken the classical mold by adding their own flare when performing traditional contemporary music in a non-traditional way. Their eclectic song mix includes hits such as Sting’s “Fragile”, Billie Holiday’s “God Bless the Child”, Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Girl from Ipanema”, Sade’s “Love Is Stronger than Pride”, Basia’s “Promises”, and Bill Withers’ “Just the Two of Us”, among many others. They have recently performed at the Kenosha HarborMarket and at the Nook Café, and are thrilled to be one of the upcoming featured groups at the BeExposed! series this March 19th at Carolyn’s Coffee Connection. Unplugged is currently seeking venues to perform at, carrying the catchphrase “have instrument, will travel”. Distance is not an issue!
Janine Arecco is a classically trained vocalist, specializing in pop and jazz. She has been performing throughout Chicagoland and the Milwaukee area for over 20 years. Janine has recorded numerous vocal tracks in studios as well (singing as well as voice-overs). In addition to performing, Janine also coaches select voice students in her home.
Jamey Buencamino is a classical and rock guitarist who has been performing in the Kenosha area for over 10 years. He is an experienced guitar instructor, currently teaching at the Kenosha Conservatory of Music. Jamey also teaches at Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee as part of their Conservatory Connections programs.
Brian Ford is a percussionist specializing in drum set. He has been playing and recording in the Chicago / Milwaukee area for the past 30 years and was fortunate to land a spot playing drum set for jazz great Buddy Montgomery. In addition to performing, Brian is a respected private drum instructor and percussion chair at the Kenosha Conservatory of Music, located in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
