Michelle Cascio Photography and Model Casting has great talent coming out of its workshops. I met them at Cascio’s June workshop and was impressed with the age range (from 10 to 30 years old) and the experience levels (from beginners to those who’ve worked for a couple of years in movies and still ads). I was invited to attend her July workshop so I could write the article entitled “Looking Your Best” in issue #29 on April 13, 2008 and was wowed even more.
Michelle came prepared with handouts “What to Do for Your Booking” and “Things You Will Need in Your Model Bag”. Learning how to work this industry, hearing their stories, and taking their pictures was a blast. These models were so enthusiastic, upbeat and excited that it left everyone encouraged to move forward. Continue reading →
The opportunity to exhibit original artwork in legislators’ offices at the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison is open to all current artist members of Arts & Humanities Alliance of Kenosha (AHA! Kenosha.) All wall-hung media 20 pounds or less will be considered. Please weigh your artwork, and do not submit work that is heavier, as the hanging system at the State Capitol is only rated for this weight. Artists may submit one/two art piece(s) per exhibit up to 4’ in any direction. NOTE: There are approximately 20 wall spaces for smaller, (18” to 36”) pieces, and 5 places for larger ones. A total of about 25 pieces will be selected for each exhibit. Although works will be available for sale, we consider this exhibition opportunity to be more for resume-building, than a sales outlet. Artwork will be on exhibition for 3 to 4 months, depending on the interest among artists in exhibiting, and our ability to coordinate installation schedules with our legislators in Madison.

VIRGINIA MORRISSEAU / “TOUCHABLE VISIONS”
Paintings made to be touched!
Encaustic: Beeswax with oil pigment mixed and melted and then polished.
Virginia’s art career started at 9 years old when she was awarded a scholarship from the Boston Museum of Fine Art School, and has continued her studies to this day. Another consuming interest took to priority for Virginia when she discovered the world of Science. An engineering career followed and art became a secondary.
From work on the atomic bomb instrumentation to aircraft design to development of health care products she became one of the first women to successfully pursue this field. She owns her own engineering consulting company, but has recently decided to pursue art full-time in her studio and gallery.
Virginia also has encaustic painting workshops at Lemon Street Gallery. Her focus for over the last ten years has been this ancient medium of combining beeswax with pigment and heating them as proven to be very successful for Virginia. She has won many awards, and has painting in private homes and corporation, in this country and in Norway.
Virginia’s next encaustic workshop at Lemon Street Gallery is on Saturday, August 2nd from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To register call Lemon Street Gallery 262.605.4745 or stop by the gallery and also view her work.

The Peter V. Bianchi Artists Studio is a museum space set aside to provide museum visitors with an immersive experience into a working Artists Studio and the creative process, as well as providing an opportunity for visitors and artists to interact.
A variety of art media are demonstrated in the Artists Studio, including oil painting, acrylic painting, woodcarving, stained glass, weaving, modeling clay, pen & ink, silversmithing, leatherworking, mosaics, and encaustic painting. Artists also work a variety of schedules; some schedule demonstrations once a month, others once every 3 to 4 months. They also work a variety of time spans, from 2 to 6 hours.
The Education Aide contacts artists about their availability. This is usually done several months in advance to allow the schedule to be published in the museum’s program schedule. Signs are also put up at the museum with the Artists Studio schedule.
Artists bring their own supplies and art pieces to work on; art may also be put on display on the shelves in the studio during the demonstration time.
