Rhythm in the Round: Community, Connection and Creativity expressed in a drum circle.

Ever since the dawn of the first day of the new millennium we have been exploring and sharing this concept: that in-the-moment music can unite us and excite us. With the simplest of tools–from African drums to plastic buckets–we can transcend everyday labels and barriers to co-create music. Here’s the equation: Community drumming = accessible music = fun!

Check out their web site for more about how to play, learn and share the drum circle experience!

Call them creative constituents. A sample of Kenosha culture is on display at the Capitol in Madison, where works by local artists are adorning the offices of Kenosha’s legislative delegation.

Members of the Arts and Humanities Alliance of Kenosha (AHA!) have hung some 20 paintings and photographs on the hallowed walls of the four-member delegation’s offices, part of a statewide trend.

AHA! is a group devoted to raising public awareness about the arts and fostering collaboration among artists, said Melanie Hovey, who serves as the organization’s vice president and is also director of Lemon Street Gallery. Click HERE to read the article

Open Mic at The Nook . . .

Open Mic Nite at The Nook was a huge success. What a relief and what fun!! You, who missed it, missed awesome music and delicious cheesecake and a fun crowd.

We had amazing musicians show up and entertain us and we gorged ourselves on Pat Garrett’s Cheesecake… Good times.

Thank you to my friends and to the musicians who came. We had Macyn Taylor! She is only 14 years old but plays better than some old pro’s… It was TRULY an HONOR to have her there and to hear her play again….

Kerry Spitzer and Janice were amazing as well. Kerry has been so supportive of the Open Mic and I owe him MUCH thanks!

Then Pat Garrett made us all laugh and cry with his superb songwriting and performing skills, as well as filling our bellies with Cheesecake!

Evan Priday played next and was awesome as usual. He did “Rising Water” by my request and it was beautiful, I love that song Evan… Cole Garcia accompanied him a few songs… Yay Cole!

And last but not least Don Miller from Acoustic Soul played guitar and sang, which Ive never heard him sing before by himself.. YOU were GREAT Don! Jason Kent joined him for a few and together they provided some comic relief… It was cute…

This week the lighting will be WAY better next time and not clinical… See you there!!
