My work represents an ongoing investigation into the metaphoric possibilities of objects and the psychological projections they attract. As remnants of material culture, these objects carry with them the residue of memory, psychological associations, the relativity of time and space and the complexity of identity.
Through a layering of temporal and spatial, as well as textual and decorative, elements I explore the concept of reality as a product of perception, cultural adaptation and engendered responses while also suggesting the possibility of a metaphysical relationship to phenomena that would entail exposure to numinous experiences. I’ve truly enjoyed each Lakeside Players show that I’ve seen thus far, but I’m sorry to say that after attending their production of “Little Shop of Horrors”, I do have a complaint. For days now, I’ve had the lyrics “Little shop…little shop of horrors…little shop…” repeating over and over in my mind. To make matters worse, I don’t remember any of the other lyrics–only those few lines. To quote Ani DiFranco, “I keep hearing that same damn song everywhere I go”! Yet, aside from the maddening musical repetition in my head, I only have positive things to say about the performance from here on. Continue reading →

There are fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes, Winston Churchill lounging with George Bernard Shaw — and the TV squirrel Rocky and his less adroit moose pal Bullwinkle. . . .
