“Inspired by Music” is an invitational art, music and dance show. Artists have entered work based on, or inspired by music. On the night of the opening reception, Saturday August 8 (6-9) Laurenzi Dance is performing an interpretive piece based on the music that the artists used for their inspiration. The exhibit runs from Aug 1-Sept 5

Music lovers, rejoice!. On Saturday, August 22nd, the Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund presents the HarborPark Jazz & Blues Festival, 56th Street and 1st Avenue in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Gates open at 2:30 p.m. Since 2004, this festival has welcomed many national and regional jazz and blues artists and attracted thousands of music fans to Kenosha’s lakefront., as it has also raised funds to help women in their fight against breast and cervical cancer.

Playing for Change - Mystery Train

“…It was a hot afternoon in New Orleans when we first recorded Washboard Chaz in front of the Spotted Cat playing his version of Mystery Train. Chaz and Roberto often played shows together and we thought Roberto’s steel guitar would be a great addition to the track. Months later on a return visit to New Orleans, we recorded Roberto on a stoop in the French Quarter. Together they are the Mystery Train moving on down the tracks…”

Playing for Change is a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music.

Laurenzi Dance returns to the Rhode Center for the Arts

  1. “I am…: an encore performance” will be held at the Rhode Center for the Arts on Friday August 14th & Saturday August 15th at 7pm. This mature performance will feature local dancers ages 12-18.
  2. The adult dance company, Captivate, will be performing “Completely Breathless: An Encore Performance” at the Rhode on Friday August 21st & Saturday August 22nd at 7pm. This company is made up of adults ages 18-28 with various backgrounds in advanced and professional dance training.
  3. Tickets cost $7 or $10 passes are be sold to attend both “iam…” & “Completely Breathless”.
    Tickets will be available at the door.
