Dave Sturino & Friends Jazz Band
The Anderson Arts Center will close its 2008 Twilight Jazz Series on Tuesday August 26th with the Dave Sturino & Friends Jazz Band. “Everyone at the Anderson Arts Center is so pleased over the outpouring of attendance and support from the community. Thank you for another great season,” said Flora Doody, Executive Director of Special Events.
Music as his inspiration, Dave Sturino began piano studies at age five and progressed to studying with two teachers every week at age 15. A 1979 Tremper High School graduate, Dave attended Berklee College of Music in Boston MA and continued studies at UW-Parkside under the direction of Professor Tim Bell. Performing various styles of music for over 32 years, Dave shared the stage with many area popular bands such as Columbia Space Shuttle Big Band, The Bones Band, Parkside Reunion Big Band, Pat Odell Jazz Lexicon, John Bunic Big Band, Swing Nouveau, Steve Houghton, and the Glen Miller Orchestra. Currently Dave is a member of the Mike Murphy Trio, Tim Bell – Jack Plovanich Big Band, the Jim Yorgan Jazz Sextet, and continues to study music today. Continue reading →

Asher/LaMacchia EV-O-LU-TION
After years of performing in various projects separately, Lynn Asher and Michael LaMacchia met and began writing and performing together in February of 2007. Their collaboration EV-O-LU-TION has manifested music that is soulful and heartfelt. With their diverse musical backgrounds, Asher and LaMacchia weave jazz, blues, rock and country throughout their original material.
At home on-stage, Lynn is known for delivering a powerful performance, connecting to her audiences with depth and feeling. Lynn is influenced by icons such as Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Melissa Etheridge, Lucinda Williams and Patty Griffin. In addition to performing, writing, and recording, Lynn teaches vocal performance classes at Crossroads, a musical development program created by Michael LaMacchia www.crozzroadzmuzic.com

The Anderson Arts Center kicked off its 2008 Twilight Jazz Series on Tuesday June 10th with The John Crawford Jazz Band. “The weather cooperated and we had a great first event,” said Flora Doody, Executive Director of Special Events.

Parkside Reunion Big Band featuring vocalist Larry Zarletti
Founded in the early 1990’s by Jack Plovanich and Tim Bell, the Parkside Reunion Big Band was formed to give musicians who attended the University of Wisconsin Parkside a chance to play and socialize on a semi-regular basis. Jack and Tim have been involved in “rehearsal bands” since the mid 1970’s when Tim arrived in Kenosha from Texas. Continue reading →
