Tourism Partner Profile: Carolyn’s Coffee Connection
By Meredith Jumisko
“Your Gateway to Kenosha’s Lakeshore”, is how Carolyn Kirkby describes her business, Carolyn’s Coffee Connection. It’s a warm and welcoming place to meet family and friends, attend meetings, enjoy live music, work on your laptop, or just curl up with a good book and cup of coffee. It opened at its new location, 1351 52nd Street, in October.
Carolyn’s serves Intelligentsia coffee, fresh-baked goodies, and a breakfast and lunch menu (available online) all day. A children’s menu and carryout are available. Staff will deliver lunch within the area. A group of five orders or more is preferred for this and there is no extra charge. The drive-through is open beginning at 5:45 a.m. You can call ahead with your food order and pick it up at the window.
Carolyn’s originally opened in Downtown Kenosha in April 2006. Business has increased since moving to 52nd Street. Regular customers followed, and many new customers arrived at the doorstep after driving by and watching the construction take place. While the building has the same footprint, much construction took place before opening on Oct. 23d.
Rotted beams were replaced, as was dry wall. The cream city brick was kept and the original floors were Continue reading →

Description: By L. Don Swartz. The plot: A small group of weary travelers discover the power of the season while trapped in a lonely train station on Christmas Eve. As a blizzard rages outside, the troubled people are forced to turn to each other for companionship. Trying to make them more comfortable is the old stationmaster, Charlie. When the clock strikes midnight, there is a knock on the station door and seven youngsters appear. They’ve seen the station lights from the nearby church where, in secret, they’ve been practicing the story of the nativity which they plan to present at regular service. They offer to perform their play for the travelers, and afterward they speak to the travelers individually, giving advice which is seemingly wise beyond their years. The next morning, as a new, younger stationmaster lights a Christmas candle, we realize the mysterious stop in the travelers’ journey was more than accidental and has given them a renewed spirit and resolve. Tickets at the door: $12 adults ($11 on Sunday) / $10 students & seniors. Special Opening Night After Party on Dec. 4: After the show music will be provided in Skinner Hall by Tim Korry & MFE. Price of the aftershow party is included in the ticket, only $9 for both! Cash Bar will be available.
