Kenosha Art Association Annual Dinner

This Wednesday, May 20th, the Kenosha Art Association is having their annual dinner at Casa Capri starting with cocktails at 5:30pm, dinner at 6:30pm with nominations and elections at 7pm. The yearly meet and greet dinner allows prospective members to join, current members to renew, nominations and election of officers.
The KAA is the oldest art organization in Kenosha established in 1950. A group of Kenosha residents wanted to promote art in the community. They have had a few homes over the years including a storefront on 22nd avenue near St. Joe’s High School, the lower level of the Woman’s Club, and then moved to their current location in 2007…the KAAleidoscope Gallery at 5615-7th Avenue.

Watercolor Painting With Barbara Farrell
This class will teach you watercolor techniques that can bring new energy and excitement to any style of painting and any level of painter. There will be demonstrations and paint-a-long with the instructor.
April 30th –June 4th 6 week class Thurs. mornings
Class time: 9:00am-12 noon Fee: $70 for KAA members $80 for non members

Oil and Acrylic Painting With Sandra Nowicki
Experience the excitement of learning to paint in oils and acrylics. Learn to compose paintings with depth by the use of warm and cool colors. Learn to use mediums to create glazes and textures. Explore mixing versatile neutral colors to create dramatic shadows. Learn brush techniques and styles to bring your painting to life on the canvas.
April 23rd-May 28th 6 week class Thurs. evenings

Kaliedoscope Workshop With Bob Sabath
You will make a beautiful 10 inch kaleidoscope from a kit.
April 25th. Time: Sat. 1:30 - 3:30 pm Fee: $10 for members $15 night for non members
Materials fee: $15.00 Limit 10 people per class
Photoshop Workshop With Karen Gulbransen
Learn to use Photoshop on a computer. Bring our own laptop if you have one, or share one at the class.
Saturday May 2 class time 1 - 4 pm. Fee: $15 for KAA members $20 for non members
Workshop Creative Card Making With Deanna Lynn
We will do 5 cards with envelopes, using decorative papers and fun stamping techniques. Learn to distress, emboss, embellish, shadow stamp and more! Card themes will be Father’s Day, Patriotic/4th of July, New Baby, Birthday, and Thinking of You Recommended: bring your own paper trimmer, small scissors, and favorite adhesive if they have it.
“Close to My Heart” products will be used for this workshop.

The public is invited to attend the Spring Art Event sponsored by the Kenosha Art Association on Saturday, Apri 4, 2009 at the Kenosha Public Musuem, 5500-First Avenue, Kenosha, WI. The schedule is the following: Registration 12:00-1:00
Reception: 1:00-2:00, Presentation 2:00-3:00, Awards 3:00-4:00.
This year’s guest speaker is Paul Hapip, a well known gemologist, who makes jewelry each summer at the Bristol Renaissance Fair. His presentation is called “Gem Hunting In South Asia.” Paul makes annual trips to India and Shri Lanka to purchase new gems and study new designs for his clients. In his spare time he also studies painting and sculpture.
