The Kenosha Writers’ Group is excited to announce that the first month of the group project, “365 Mondays”, is complete! Visitors to the group’s website have had thirty chances to laugh, see things from another viewpoint, experience romance, share a character’s sorrow or cheer on the average Joe (or Jane!). As the group embarks on the next month’s series of short stories, poetry, and other pieces, everyone is again welcomed and encouraged to read the daily posting and give feedback and/or leave comments. You can look forward to a great variety of subject matter and writing styles, so there’s bound to be something for every reader’s tastes.
A big thank you to those who have already read and commented; y’all come back now! To those who might not have paid a visit yet, please come on in, sit a spell, and enjoy your visit.

From the Kenosha Writers’ Group
Think back to childhood, to being all snug and cozy in your bed, listening intently as someone read you a bedtime story. Or perhaps it was storytime at school or a library, sitting cross-legged on a floor. Wherever it may have been, I’m going to bet that you were transported. Imagination in high gear, the room you were in fell away, replaced by a castle, or a forest, or a…..you fill in the blanks. Hopefully, books have never lost that magical quality for you, as hop-scotch and games of tag turned into work responsibilities and family obligations. In a day and age where sitting down with a book for hours on end is somewhat of a luxury, the Kenosha Writers’ Group extends an invitation to you.
Our project “365 Mondays” in in full swing. We’ve had a week’s worth of great writing, covering all sorts of subjects—love, suspense, lust, romance, hardship, struggles, family, loss, joy…you name it, it’s probably been covered! So take a break from being an adult for just a moment each day. Go to www.kenoshawritersgroup.com and read that day’s post. Allow the world to slip away again, and immerse yourself in the enchantment of a good story or poem. Induldge in a little whimsy and imagination.
Go ahead—We double-dog dare you!

An excerpt from “Cajun Summer Poem”
By Lisa Adamowicz Kless
We wandered the French Quarter those July nights
hand in hand
fingers intertwined
souls connected.
While the softly muted sounds of some jazz band
floated lazily through the air
we rambled down the sidewalks
brushing past
long gone spirits, perhaps
(as the stories go).
But for me at that moment
there was nothing more alive
than you and I
as we meandered along under the hazy
star-strewn Louisiana sky.
Later that night
stumbling over your words
like a baby just learning to babble
you asked me to marry you;
and the love I felt for you
had hit me before
but never
like this…

The Kenosha Writers’ Group is not only fun-loving, supportive, welcoming and diverse, but are united by our common passion for writing. The group has been meeting the third Thursday of every month for several years now, most recently at our new “home”, The Nook. Members run the gamut; from those who simply enjoy writing in their spare time, to published authors who are working on new novels or other projects. At every meeting, members share their work and are given honest, constructive feedback. New members are always welcome, so if you have an interest in writing, stop by. You’d be hard pressed to find a more supportive and encouraging group of people!
With the beginning of a new year, the Kenosha Writers’ Group has embarked on an exciting new project and invites the community to get involved through reading and commenting. “365 Mondays”, Continue reading →

“Copacetic View” a photo prompt piece by Suzanne Simonovich
I witness your strength and stark reality ~
Rigid and strong, you are confident in your nakedness
You compare me with your world
And I wonder at your dormancy
We stand in awkward idleness
Knowing this is winter’s invitation at its best
From a cautious distance, we observe each other
Caring to much to risk betrayal
I can only scratch the surface of your thoughts
Hoping you will let me in
Long enough to see the nonjudgmental side of you
Today I realize you are only as tolerant as I need you to be
And in my spring of thoughts
You will come back lenient and enough
Bending towards me with no barriers
Rich in unmatched beauty ~
